Cary Brown
After beginning his career in public accounting, Cary Brown stepped into industry as a co-founder of Petroleum Strategies, Inc., driving it to become the leading 1031 Qualified Intermediary in the oil and gas sector. Building upon the success of Petroleum Strategies, Cary co-founded Moriah Resources, Inc., an independent oil and gas producer focused on the Permian Basin. Moriah Resources grew rapidly through a series of acquisitions and strategic financial partnerships culminating in the IPO of Legacy Reserves LP in 2007. Cary led Legacy as its Chairman and CEO for eight years, completing more than $2 Billion in acquisitions financed through a series of public debt and equity offerings. After stepping back from Legacy in 2015, Cary focused his efforts on his family office, the Moriah Group, which leverages his unique background by investing in energy, real estate and various operating companies. As a principal of Moriah Investment Partners, together with Dale Brown, Cary has invested more than $[100]mm in a variety of real estate projects across the United States. Cary graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
